A Personal Reason This Matters to Me

This is something I understand on a deeply personal level.

I lost my own mum when she was just 50 years old. I was only 21.

Looking back now, the photographs I have of her are among my most treasured possessions. They capture far more than how she looked. They remind me of her smile, her warmth, her kindness and the love we shared.

Every time I photograph a mother with her children—whether they're toddlers, teenagers or adults—it reminds me why this work matters so much.
