The Studio Has Reopened! A New Space, The Same Relaxed, Safe & Welcoming Space.

There’s something rather satisfying about opening the door to a freshly refurbished studio!

After weeks of painting, rearranging, changing things, making decisions, changing those decisions again, and wondering quite how much work one little studio could create, it is finally finished.

And I’m delighted to officially reopen the doors.

But this refurbishment was never simply about making the studio look different.

It was about creating an even better experience for the people who come through the door.

A fresh new look

The studio now has fresh walls throughout, and each one has been designed to work as a backdrop in its own right.

That gives me so much more flexibility when creating your portraits.

Different walls, different lighting, different styling and different possibilities — all within the same intimate environment.

There’s also a beautiful new studio wardrobe, new posing props and new lighting specifically chosen with portrait photography in mind.

And one of my favourite additions is the dedicated Portrait Reveal area.

Because your experience doesn't end when I put the camera down!

Seeing your portraits for the first time is such an important part of the process, and I wanted to create a dedicated space where we can sit together, relax and properly experience your images.

Designed around you

Every decision I made during the refurbishment came back to one question:

How can I make this experience even better for my clients?

The new backdrops give us more creative options.

The wardrobe gives you more choice when planning your session.

The new posing props give us different ways to create your portraits.

The new lighting opens up even more possibilities.

And the Portrait Reveal area gives us somewhere comfortable and relaxed to sit together and see the finished images.

But underneath all of those changes is something much more important:

  • I want you to feel comfortable.

  • I want you to feel safe.

  • And I want the atmosphere to feel relaxed from the moment you walk through the door.

A space where you can be yourself

Having your photograph taken can feel surprisingly vulnerable.

Even people who are confident in everyday life can suddenly become very aware of themselves when they're standing in front of a camera.

That’s why creating the right environment has always been an important part of my work.

I want you to be able to walk into the studio, take a breath and feel at ease.

There’s no expectation that you need to know how to pose.

You don't need to be naturally comfortable in front of a camera.

And you certainly don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you're doing.

That's my job!

I'll guide you through the process, help you with posing and expression, and create an atmosphere where you can gradually relax into the experience.

The refurbishment has simply given me an even better environment in which to do that.

Behind the scenes

Of course, the finished studio is only part of the story.

I've also filmed some behind-the-scenes footage of the refurbishment so you can see what went on before the doors opened again.

The painting.

The moving.

The rearranging.

The decisions.

And all the not-quite-so-glamorous moments that happen before a finished space suddenly looks as though it has always been that way!

It’s been lovely to see the studio evolve, but even more importantly, it has been exciting to think about the portraits and experiences that will happen here next.

A new chapter

I've been creating portraits for many years, and while photography, technology and the way we work have changed enormously, one thing has remained constant:

I want people to feel good about being photographed!

Not just when they see the finished images, but throughout the entire experience.

I want the studio to feel welcoming.

I want you to feel comfortable.

I want the atmosphere to be relaxed and personal.

And I want the finished portraits to give you something that lasts far beyond the day of your session.

The refurbished studio is a new chapter, with more creative possibilities, a fresh new look and even more thought put into the client experience.

The doors are officially open again, and I can't wait to welcome you in!
